C3 Church Bridgeman Downs began in April 1986. Our church originated
from a vision Gordon Moore received to start a church on the Northside
of Brisbane to reach out to the whole city and beyond. In obedience to
that vision Gordon and Jo moved with their family from New Zealand on
15 January 1986.
C3 Church Bridgeman Downs held its
first meeting in the Senior Citizens Hall at Kuran Street, Chermside.
Since then it has grown steadily, starting with an attendance of 7 at
the first meeting to 2,800 people today.
In
1989 the church moved from Kuran Street to a rented industrial building
in Boothby Street, Kedron. From Boothby Street, C3 Church
moved to Gympie Road, Aspley in 1991. Meetings started in the original
building on the block, but quickly had to initiate a building fund so
that a demountable auditorium could be erected on the vacant land at
the back, and the original church building could be renovated to
include some office space, children’s church and creche. This building
served the church well, accommodating three meetings per Sunday.
In
April 1996, C3 Church Bridgeman Downs officially opened its
new premises at 1910 Gympie Road, Bridgeman Downs. This is a building that is
designed to serve the needs of the growing church membership, providing
room for growth in the future, encompassing innovative ideas such as
the cafe, parents room, facilities for children’s ministry, youth and
community education centre, multimedia, studio and auditorium.
